Reports reaching Ogaden Online service desk from the town of Fiq confirm the defection of up to 14 Ethiopian trained militia known as ‘Liyu police’. Reports add that this militia escaped with all their military gear including some BKM's.
The Fourteen defecting Militias who escaped to ONLF are opposing the Ethiopian regime's racist policy towards Ogaden civilians. They said that the regime is taking harsh measures against civilian population and anyone who violate the order.
One of the defecting soldiers, who declined his name, stated that the regime and its local Administration in Jigjiga are using Ogaden Youth against their own people and are being deployed in the fronts under false promises.
Another escapee indicated that the Woyane (Ethiopian) regime is weaving various conspiracies and ploys with a view to fomenting conflicts and animosity among the Ogaden people, and thereby advance its narrow interests.
There is constant fighting between Ethiopian troops and ONLF forces in the Ogaden region. Human rights organizations accuse the Ethiopian soldiers of violating the human rights by harassing the people in the Ogaden region.
