It is an absurdity for anyone that would expect an international organisation as big as the UN to develop in such a manner. The absurdity is that the UN General Assembly elected Ethiopia, along with Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone and Gabon to represent Africa for membership in the UN Human Rights Council, for the period 2013-2015.
It has also elected Japan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, South Korea and United Arab Emirates for Asia;Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela for Latin America and the Caribbean; Estonia and Montenegro for Eastern Europe; and Germany, US and Ireland for Western Europe and others Group.
UN Human Right Council became a place where human right abusers come together and enjoy power and decision making for some thing they are not respecting for them selves.
When we see the lists of countries elected to represent continental groups, the presence of Ethiopia is really an insult for the whole of Africa. It is clear that even the brutal regime in Ethiopia will laugh due to such funny news that came from UN.
