ULFO Statement on the Loss of jaal Jaarraa Abbaa gadaa

The United Liberation Forces of Oromiyaa, ULFO is deeply saddened and shocked to know that our long time leader is no longer with us. ULFO is deeply sadden and shocked over the loss of Jaarraa Abbaa Gadaa, the great leader and Comrade who envisioned, laid the foundation and enabled the unification of GABUO, UOPLF and FIDO into one entity, ULFO. ULFO and the Oromo nation lost its most precious charismatic, dedicated and visionary leader. While ULFO grieves the loss of this great son of Oromiya, we extend our most heartfelt sympathy to the Oromo people who lost an irreplaceable icon they have produced in about half a century.

History will remember comrade Jaarraa Abbaa Gadaa as a monumental figure in the Oromo liberation struggle. Throughout his life and against all odds, he fought and sacrificed for the ideals of freedom and independence of Oromiya with unflinching commitment and determination. He was like no other person, His extraordinary and heroic record and his significant accomplishments speak volumes. For almost half a century, this monumental son of Oromiyaa pursued the vision for independent Oromiya with humility and maximum selflessness. ULFO and the Oromo people are definitely honored and privileged to have had produced this one-of-kind son.

Despite this tremendous loss we are all enduring at the critical time however, ULFO would also like to assure its members and the Oromo nation at large that we will work to see the continuation of the liberation struggle to realize the ideals he set forth and for which he and many other Oromo sons before him sacrificed their lives.

May Allah rest Jaarraa’s soul in peace.
