The Oromo Community in UK celebrated Irreecha Festival in London

The Oromo Community in the UK celebrated Irreechaa Festival with great Jubilation and highly ceremonious way on 12 October 2012 in London. The celebration began by elders blessing and thanksgiving to almighty God who, according to their artful recital and skilful explanation of his power and works, has created the universe and endowed his people with the gifts of nature, provides the water and rivers from below and the rain from above, stretched the land with its beautiful wealth and filled it with harmony, made forests and all in it and the sun and the moon.

This thanksgiving Irrechaa celebration included a diverse and colorful display of Oromo culture presented through dance and fashion show of cultural outfits by the Oromo Youth Association. This was a real fashion show and impressive demonstration of the potential of the Oromo girls and boys to demonstrate their knowledge of the different part of Oromos and Oromian dresses, songs and lifestyles. As usual tasty Oromo food was prepared by the Oromo Women and served. The program began at 11:00 am at the beautiful waterside around Hampstead Heath and continued until 10:30pm. On this momentous festival and thanksgiving day Oromo from different walks of life and faith groups, young and old, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters came together and celebrated Irreechaa Festival and enjoyed, above all, to be together.
